Abstract	Mutum is a twelve-minute, silent video, projected at twenty-four frames-per-second in full 1080p high definition. It is an investigation of the nature of time, especially as it materializes itself through moving images captured inside a room-sized camera obscura. The images produced inside the camera obscura, which then become the subject of cinematic investigation, are of the sun moving in relation to a human figure. The work of Jan Dibbets and James Turrell are influences on this work in so far as they both investigate visual perception in order to challenge the capacity of human perception to develop an accurate picture of reality. Although Mutum was presented as a high-definition video in a gallery screening room, future iterations might take the form of photography or as a site-specific installation.
