1. President’s Introductory remarks
The president, Prof. Rolf Zinkernagel opens the meeting and welcomes all officials and
delegates from IUIS member societies. He indicates that the present delegates, nominated
by their respective societies and federations, will be the members of the General
Assembly(GA) of IUIS for the coming three years up to the next IUIS congress in Kobe,
Japan in 2010. For all decisions requiring the consent of the GA, all members will be
contacted by e-mail. Therefore it is essential that the central secretariat in Vienna is kept
updated of any change in address. The IUIS central office can be reached by e-mail:
iuis-central-office@medacad.org
Prof. Zinkernagel mentions that the EXCO of IUIS consists of an incoming president, a
past president, the president, a treasurer and a general secretary. The council of IUIS
consists of 16 elected members who are elected from the list of proposed persons by the
IUIS member societies and federations. In addition the EXCO is advised by a number of
committee chairs, representatives of the 5 federations of IUIS, namely FAIS, ALAI, FIMSA,
EFIS and the North American group.
The income of IUIS comes from the profit of its, once in 3 years held, international
congresses and from dues of its members. A great part of the budget of IUIS is dedicated
to education and this part of the budget is allocated via the Education Committee (chair
Michelle Letarte) and the Clinical Immunology Committee (chair Sergio Romagnani). Prof.
Zinkernagel also mentions that all member societies are welcome to contact either the
EXCO, the committee chairs or the IUIS office for information and help.
2. Secretary General’s report
The Secretary General (SG) of IUIS, Mohamed Daha, indicates that business for IUIS is
conducted either directly by his own secretariat in Leiden, the Netherlands, or by our
central office in Vienna. It can be reached directly by e-mail (M.R.Daha@lumc.nl) or via
his assistant in Leiden (evdkwast@lumc.nl) or via our central office in Vienna. Mrs. Sylvia
Trittinger will keep on playing a central role for managing business for IUIS until
September 30, 2007 and thereafter Mrs. Gerlinde Jahn is going to take over (e-mail: iuis-central-
office@medacad.org) Additional details about ongoing activities of the SG can be
found in his report.
