to be included in the agenda. Under point 2 of the aganda the point “approval of the minutes” is
included.
2. Minutes of the 44th and 45th Council meetings

European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology” should be completed as indicated.

Business arising from the minutes: Following the adjustment mentioned above, the minutes of
both the 44th and the 45th Council meeting are approved.
3. President's report
Dr. Marrack mentions that the “postal and e-mail ballot” for the International Immunology
meeting in 2007 was conducted as agreed in Stockholm and has resulted in the choice for Rio as
the hosting city.
Further she mentions that together with Dr. Paul Kincade and Dr. Lindsay Dent, she has drafted
a proposal for amendments of the constitution of IUIS. This item is listed under item 6 of the
agenda for discussion.
She concludes that for future communication e-mail could potentially be used to take decisions
about items that arise between the International Conferences where a decision by the General
Assembly is required.
4. Secretary General's report
The secretary general, Mohamed Daha, indicates that the collaboration with the IUIS central
secretariat in Vienna works well. There is a good collaboration with his own secretariat in
Leiden and the secretariat in Vienna, with Sylvia Trittinger as contact person. All activities of the
central secretariat can be found in the report 2001/2002 of the central secretariat, together with
a short report of the secretary general (attachments 1 and 2)
In addition, Daha mentions that two phone conferences were organised from Leiden to discuss
ongoing matters with the executive board of IUIS.
