Approximately 750,000 prints, negatives, and transperanices dating from the 1930s through the 1980s used and/or created by the Baltimore Sun are available for use at UMBC. It is estimated that 90% are original Baltimore Sun photographs while the remaining are from non-Sun sources. Original prints still held by the Baltimore Sun were offered for sale by the Tribune Company, and the prints in this digital collection were purchased by UMBC in 2014. Permission was granted to UMBC to digitize, describe, and make available online the prints purchased; each digital image reflects a Baltimore Sun watermark per the terms of this agreement.
The other Sun prints are organized alphabetically by name (personal or corporate) or by subject (view the folder listing by subject); this does not include the holdings from the 1980s.
