Abstract
This study examined the relations between sense of community , spirituality and time spent in treatment at the Helping Up Mission (HUM) , a Christian modified therapeutic community . This study investigated the relation between scores on the Sense of Community Index (SCI) , Spiritual Well Being Scale (SWBS) , and the number of days spent in the program . Further , it examined whether change in SCI scores mediates the effect of SWBS scores on days in treatment with a population of homeless substance abusing men . The hypothesized relations between sense of community , spirituality and time spent in treatment were not supported .
